In true Mexican spirit, La Destileria celebrates the country’s most famous export: Tequila. La Distileria is a mini museum cum restaurant that pays tribute to the famed amber liquid. Visitors are often surprised to discover that there are over 150 varieties of the stuff. Most of the best tequilas (some richer and far more mellow than what we’re used to) never make it across the border into the United States so a visit to La Destileria is a real eye opener. For absolutely unbelievable margaritas, visit La Desteleria. The restaurant serves local food and this is a good place to try more unusual fare like squash blossoms. Breaded fish tacos and guacamole get a big thumbs-up. If you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the lagoon crocodile who has aptly be dubbed Tequila.
